Ronald Devereaux Obituary

Ron passed away surrounded by family on a crisp and sunny Colorado afternoon at the age of 65. He will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.

Ron was born at the Holy Family Hospital in LaPorte, Indiana on 27 December to Carol and Richard Devereaux of Laporte, Indiana. Spending much of his youth on Pine Lake honing his skiing and boating skills, Ron was ever active.  The older brother to Keith and twins Dennis and Denise, he was an example of respect and selfless service. He and his family were nearly inseparable, assisting out on the farm or garage as often as being home.

An avid outdoorsman and explorer, he naturally found friends and camaraderie in the Boy Scouts eventually earning the highest rank: Eagle Scout.  Exemplifying the Boy Scout Spirit he camped often, assisted in local projects, and traveled to jamborees across the US and Canada. Ron would take their motto to heart and use it all his life: Be Prepared. It was a rare event to find Ron without a plan or tool for the job at hand.

Drawn to cars and with his natural aptitude to mechanical repair, he found work at the Conoco gas station during his time at Laporte High School. His mastery of automotive repair continued as he moved into Colorado to attend the Denver Automotive & Diesel College in 1976. Graduating in 1977 from both Auto and Diesel courses he was certified and ready to repair!

Ron finally settled down in Aurora, where he began a constant and increasingly successful battle on home improvements.

Ron worked diligently for Wagner Equipment Company for more than 30 years: 1990-2022. He began as a Journeyman Technician; but in 1996 he leveraged his encyclopedic knowledge of the Caterpillar product line to assume his new position as Technical Warranty Analyst. Ron was methodical and disciplined in his work, creating a reputation of calm dependable helpfulness while reclaiming millions of dollars to Wagner. This reputation spread beyond the Aurora branch, out into Colorado and all the way through New Mexico. If you had an issue, Ron could guide you to a solution.

In 1986 Ron married Susan Hibbing, and gained a daughter in Tanya and was later blessed with two children of his own: Chessica and Jared. A loving and devoted father, he received respect and love from his children. Spending as much time together as possible, they too learned the value of accomplishing a task done with your own hands.

Ron later remarried to Rong Liu of Hunan, China and spent a decade with love in his heart and home.

Ron was known to many as a giving, methodical, and pensive man. Learning from his younger days, his speech was measured and calm; inviting you to discuss the issues on your mind to find a solution.  His role in the family was sometimes a mediator, but always a central axis for family gatherings and decisions.

Ron was a Lutheran man and a Deacon in his church. He spent many years in service of God, strong in his faith through the end.

Ron is preceded in death by his father, Richard Clarence Devereaux.

Ron is survived by Rong Devereaux, his wife of 10 years; Mother- Carol Devereaux; Siblings- Keith, Dennis, and Denise; Children- Tanya, Chessica, and Jared; Grandchildren- Brody, Braiden, Elise and Gavin.

Ron will be remembered with a Celebration of Life at the Chinese Evangelical Church of Denver at 1099 Newark St, Aurora, CO 80010, Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 2 PM. Reception to follow.

Donations in Ron's Honor should go to a local shelter or Boy Scouting troop of your choice.
