Ron Winkel was born October 13, 1939 in Englewood, Colorado to William and Helen (Wallenthin) Winkel. Ron passed away December 3, 2024
At the age of 7 - 9, he was placed in an orphanage. He boarded and graduated from Mullen High School in 1956. Ron served his country in the United States Navy while being stationed at U.S. NAAS Brown Field - Chula Vista CA from 10/24/56 to 09/30/59 and was discharged with the rank of YNT3. Ron belonged to the Knights of Columbus.
Ron married Kathleen "Kay" Cunningham on May 14, 1960 and were married for 58 years.
Ron was a painter in early years and eventually became a commercial electrician until retirement. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, game night with friends, the Broncos, decorating at Christmas, and most of all spending time with his family
Ron is survived by his children Keith Winkel of Littleton, Theresa "Tracy" Winkel of Parker, and Carol Winkel Webber and her husband Rob of Littleton; Grandchildren, Gavin Winkel and Liam Winkel (Keith), Macey, Jessica and Jack Webber (Carol), and Kameron Wentworth & Collin Winkel (Joey)
Ron is preceded by his parents, William Winkel 07/19/03 - 08/15/82 and Helen Victoria Wallenthin 12/28/14 - 01/30/49; Wife, Kathleen "Kay" Winkel 10/30/40 - 06/09/2018; Son, Joey Winkel 04/03/1971 - 03/12/2022; Brother, Paul A Winkel 04/29/42 - 04/07/2020, and Sister, Patricia J Winkel 01/22/44-03/12/2010.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, December 13, 2024 followed by a reception, both at St. Mary Catholic Church in Littleton. Ron will be laid to rest with his wife Kay with a private service at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
