Ruth was born on January 25,1939 in Eagle Grove Iowa to parents Erma (Beach) and James Babcock where she joined her brother Keith, sisters, Wanda, Dorthy and Glee. Ruth grew up on a farm and graduated from Dows High School in 1957. She went to work at William’s Savings Bank where she found her love for banking and finances, which would later become her career.
She married her high school sweetheart in 1959, and they were blessed with a son Troy and a daughter Noelle. After the marriage ended in 1969; Ruth and her kids moved to Marina California where she continued her career in banking. The family often took weekend drives to enjoy the beautiful vistas and Redwoods of their new home.
In 1974 she married Donald Collier and the little family moved to Walnut in Southern California. Ruth and Donald were married 51 years. Ruth loved her career in banking and worked her way up to be an Assistant Branch Manager. After retirement, Ruth loved to keep fit, while living in Walnut she would go to 24-hour fitness taking classes in the pool with her friends. Donald and Ruth moved to Highlands Ranch, Colorado in 2022. She continued to work out, walking everyday, and then joining the Row House. The Row House quickly became her happy place. She would go twice a week. She was awarded a 500k award (mind you that was over 310 miles that she had rowed in 2025 when she was 86 years old!).
Ruth always had a twinkle in her eye. Donald called her blue eyes and peanut. She loved life, whether it was working at the bank or spending time with her family.
She is the proud Grandmother of 7 Grandchildren, Hannah, Tessa, Austin, Emma, Jacob, Samuel and Chloe. She has 4 Great Grandchildren, Judson, Kaden, Tanner, Lane and her first Great Granddaughter who will be soon joining the family.
Ruth was preceded in death by her Husband Donald, her Granddaughter Tessa, her Parents Erma and James, her brother Keith, and her 3 sisters, Wanda, Dorthy and Glee.
Visitation will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, July 27, 2026, at Drinkwine Family Chapel followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM. Ruth will be laid to rest with Donald at Littleton Cemetery.
