Sarah Caven Obituary

Sarah (Sally) Amelia Caven, 99 yrs. old, of Castle Rock, Colorado, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024. Sally was born in Boston, raised in Hough's Neck, and spent her early married years in Quincy, Massachusetts. In 1948, she became a long-time resident of California with her final move to Colorado in 2000. 

Sally was preceded in death by her parents (Ernest Baker and Sarah Baker Pate), her husband of 55 years, John E. Caven, her five brothers (Ernie, Harold, Kenny, Phillip and William) and two sisters (June and Eleanor), two sons-in-law (William Nelson and Richard Barnes), her daughter-in-law (Pat Caven) and two grandsons (Bryan Schesser and Joseph Schesser). Sally is survived by her five children - June Nelson, Patricia Barnes, John P. Caven (Susan), Mike Caven, Michele Schesser (Don) and her sister, Bonnie Harris-Crandall. She also leaves 12 grandchildren (and spouses), 27 great-grandchildren (and spouses) and 6 great- great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Sally worked tirelessly throughout her lifetime in a variety of capacities in loving support of her family. In retirement, she had a wonderful life of both domestic and international travel. In addition to travelling, she loved fishing, camping, cooking, occasional Bingo and especially any time she could spend with her family and friends. 

Interment will be at the Riverside National Cemetery (Riverside, California) on October 24, 2024 (wedding anniversary) as a Celebration of Her Life for family and friends. Memorial masses will also be offered in her memory at the home parishes of her children.
