Shana Schutte Miller Obituary

Shana Dee (Schutte) Miller, age 57, peacefully entered the glory of Heaven on Wednesday, February 12, at her home in Breckenridge, Colorado. Though our hearts are heavy with the loss of her kind, radiant presence, we find comfort knowing she is now rejoicing in a restored body, free of earthly limitations, and surrounded by the Host of Heaven and beloved family and friends who went before her. Shana often spoke of her "earth suit" and how it sometimes held her back from the activities she loved. Today, we imagine her running, jumping, and dancing with joy in lush fields of flowers in the presence of her Savior.

Born on December 10, 1967, in Twin Falls, Idaho, Shana was the cherished daughter of Hazel and James (Jim) Schutte. She grew up in Twin Falls and graduated from Valley High School. She earned an Art Education degree from Boise State University in 1997. Shana's adventurous spirit took her across the globe, living and working in cities such as Houston, Texas; Hamburg, Germany; London, England; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Atlanta, Georgia; Chicago, Illinois; and ultimately Breckenridge, Colorado. In each place, she cultivated lasting friendships and meaningful connections, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and grace.

Anyone who met Shana was blessed to experience her unique gifts of light, joy and laughter – her brilliant blue eyes – her quick and easy smile.  But her love for the Lord, her genuineness, and her loyalty to others were some of her most endearing qualities.

Shana was a gifted communicator and a published author who devoted more than 25 years to sharing messages of faith, hope, and encouragement. She wrote books, devotionals, and online articles and was a long-time contributor to the Wisdom Hunters ministry. Through her own outreach, Single Over 30, she created podcasts, blogs, and online coaching programs that uplifted thousands of individuals. Shana's words were a beacon of hope for many, as she effortlessly conveyed God's love with authenticity and warmth. In addition to her writing, she was a talented watercolor artist, often gifting or selling her vivid floral paintings, which symbolized a spiritual vision she received in her final year.

Shana is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Clark Miller. He was her hero, best friend, and steadfast partner in life's joys and challenges. Their story was one of patience, faith, and redemption—a testament to God's grace in their lives. Together, they shared nearly 11 wonderful years filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering love. Shana is also survived by her mother, Hazel Schutte; sister, Melonie Schutte; brother, Gannon Schutte; and “sister-in-love,” Jeana Schutte. Her father, Jim Schutte, preceded her in death. She also leaves behind her "bonus family" of nine children and four grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and who she delighted in spoiling at every opportunity.

Shana's vibrant spirit was evident in the many simple pleasures she cherished: coffee dates with friends, long walks along scenic mountain trails, lively conversations, creating art, and driving with Clark through Colorado's breathtaking landscapes in their little convertible. She had a soft spot for animals, especially the chipmunks, foxes, and squirrels around her home—her favorites being Peanut (the squirrel) and Mittens (the fox). Yet, above all, Shana's greatest passion was sharing the love of Jesus. Her gentle boldness in sharing her faith touched countless lives, whether with a barista at a coffee shop or a stranger in a hospital parking lot. Even as she faced her health challenges, her dedication to spreading God's love only grew stronger.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the community of Agape Outpost in Breckenridge, the caregivers who supported Shana with compassion, the staff at Oasis of Hope Hospital in Tijuana, Mexico, and the many friends and “Prayer Posse” warriors who stood by her side. Your love, prayers, and acts of kindness made this journey more bearable, and your presence was a tangible expression of God's grace.

Shana’s life was a testament to the transformative power of God's love. While we grieve her absence, we rejoice in the certainty of her eternal life in Heaven. Her laughter, compassion, and faith-filled spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church at Agape Outpost in Breckenridge, Colorado. The family invites friends and loved ones to share memories and messages on Shana's Facebook page, where her legacy of faith, love, and joy continues to inspire.
