Skylar Schambs Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Skylar Raine Schambs, who left this world on December 3, 2023. Born on March 21st, 1996, in Cleveland, Ohio, Skylar touched all who knew her with a radiant light and an energy that was unparalleled. She was an extraordinary girl in an ordinary world. Her Montessori teacher perfectly described her as “delicate yet strong”.  Skylar had a way of making a lasting impression on everyone she met. As a young girl, she loved nature and delighted in discovering critters in creeks and ponds. Pets were a passion, and she adored her cats, dogs, hamster, rabbit and fish. She was prolifically creative and amassed a mountain of written works and artwork in her life. A talented and gifted jewelry designer, she created the most exquisite, intricate and unique pieces. She shared her love for jewelry artistry by gifting these pieces to her friends and family. A love for music was a profound and unwavering force in her life.  She played guitar, had a soulful voice and wrote her own music.

After graduating as a “lifer” from Gilmour Academy in Cleveland in 2014, Skylar made her way to college at CU Boulder, graduating in 2019 with a BA in Psychology. Next came a move to Denver to work for Vertafore, a software company. Skylar enjoyed all that Colorado living had to offer. Hiking, mining for crystals, and traveling the state to indulge in the hot springs were some of her passions. A more recent interest was skydiving, where she earned her Class A license, having completed over 25 jumps. Skylar also loved to travel, and visited many countries including Africa, Costa Rica, Germany, France, and Puerto Rico. A trip to Japan in 2024 was in the works.

Skylar is survived by her parents Faith and Gary, as well as her beloved cat, Lucy. Skylar was well loved by her aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents, as well as a multitude of dear friends whose lives she greatly enriched.

Private services will be held in Boulder and in Cleveland.
