Susan Jane Bither

Susan Jane Osterholm Bither (lovingly known as Susie), loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend passed away on  April 1, 2026. She was born on July 1, 1934 in Tiffin, Ohio to Robert and Carolyn Osterholm. She was an only child and moved to Canton, Ohio in the third grade where she attended Lehman High School, was a member of the girl’s varsity basketball team and graduated in 1952.

During her freshman year at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, she was a member of the Alpha Omega Pi sorority and graduated in 1956 with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She met her future husband, David Bither, at a freshman function sitting across the table from each other. They were married on June 30, 1956 in Canton, Ohio. Her first job out of college was as a second grade teacher in Toledo, Ohio. Susan and Dave’s careers took them to Toledo, OH; Nashville, TN; Atlanta, GA; Peoria, IL, Charlotte, NC, then they retired to Littleton, CO in 1994.

Susan was devoted to her family and friends all over the country. Over the years, she was involved in many organizations, played tennis and golf, loved football, March Madness, crossword puzzles, making Christmas cookies and Twinkie pie, going to the Carolina beaches, being involved with her grandkids activities and sports, and for over a decade she was renowned at Razzles Toy Store, where they honored her with “Susan’s Book Nook” painted on the wall of the book section. 

Her famous recipes have been shared with friends and family and will carry on through generations. She was kind, compassionate, and caring, with a heart of gold and respect for everyone she met.

We will miss you, Susan, Wife, Mom, Mimi, Grammy, and dear friend to so many. You were the best of the best, and we thank you for your love, support, and guidance, and for making the world a better place. 

Susan was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, David Rodney Bither, Robert and Carolyn Osterholm (her parents), Steven (nephew), and Charles Bither (brother-in-law).

Susan is survived by her 3 children; Mike (Debbie), Julie (Ken), and Carrie (Kevin); nine grandchildren – Jennifer (Jeff), Steven (Stephanie), Jackie (Sam), Carter, Haley (Michael), Hannah, Robert, Kyle and Jason; two step grandchildren – Bob and Kelly; 4 great grandchildren – Maebri, Brecken, Gracie and Charlie, as well as, Leanne Bither (sister-in-law), 2 nephews – David (Elizabeth) and Philip (Kathleen) and 1 niece – Kathy (Greg).
