Teresa Russo Obituary

In Honor of our Mom

Teresa Jane Matteace Russo passed away on October 11, 2024, after struggling with congestive heart failure this past year.  She was born June 6, 1931 to Frank and Anna Matteace in Brooklyn, NY, and had one brother, Jerry.  In 1955, she married William A. Russo Jr.  Together they raised 5 children: Toni, Bill, Denise, Diane, and Michele; moving from Brooklyn to Schenectady, NY, then to Libertyville, IL, and finally settled in Littleton, CO.  They had 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and Terry became a great great grandmother 8 days before she passed away.  Family was the most important thing in their lives; they were happiest when the little children were around, and that didn't change for Terry when Bill passed away in October of 2005.  She remembered and sent gifts to all her grandchildren on their birthdays, quite a feat!  Volunteering at St. Madeleine Sophie while in Schenectady, St. Joseph's in Libertyville, and Columbine Catholic Church in Littleton, teaching CCD, kept her busy while the kids were young.

Terry loved to dance! She did a mean Jitterbug/Swing Dance at each of the girls’ weddings, showing her love of life.

She loved to watch "Everybody Loves Raymond,” probably because she was so much like Marie, even though she didn’t think so!

To keep her brain sharp, she watched Jeopardy, $100,000 Pyramid and other game shows. She also loved to play scrabble and win!

She never lost her feisty attitude and would tell you what she thought! But, she was also a very special, loving person who was very protective of her family, her husband , her friends, and her Italian Heritage, cooking and eating meatballs and lasagna, which we cherish about her.

She also enjoyed volunteering at the Littleton Hospital gift shop, where she met her dear friend, Mary, who along with her other dear friend Joan, attended St. Frances Cabrini and their Senior Group, and the three were known as “The Golden Girls.”  Terry will be deeply missed by us all.  Until we see you again in Heaven Mom, we're glad you're free from pain and suffering.

Revelation 21:4

He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain.  All these things are gone forever.

Preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister-in-law, and husband.  She leaves behind 5 children, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and her niece.
