Tyler Pennington Obituary

Tyler James ‘Tj’ Pennington was born May 21, 1984 at St. Lukes Hospital in Denver to Ernie Shane and Kari Shane (Pennington). Tj passed away Sunday July 10th at the age of 38. Tj was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. At the age of five he was adopted by Jon Pennington, Kari’s second husband. Tj grew up in Littleton and graduated from Heritage High School. He was very passionate about his many interests in life. He would go to work at the restaurant with his dad, when he was just five years old, and help cut tomatoes. There his interest in cooking began. When he was 14 he started work at Café Rio. Later he would work for The Shack, The Tavern, Breckenridge Brewery and most recently, The Rock Bottom Brewery and Restaurant, of which he proclaimed, “I’ve found my home”. Tj had other jobs, he worked for U-Haul, and in construction and landscaping. Tj loved sports especially the Broncos, Av’s, Nuggets and CU Buffs. Tj was an avid bike rider and used that as his primary means of transportation. He was a member of the Denver bike club the ‘Scorchers’. It brought him a lot of happiness to go on the rides and be a part of that family. He loved playing dice with his friends at The Alley in downtown Littleton. His friends were family to him and he had many friends and family.

His birth father Ernie Shane, whom Tj loved very much, passed on this last November. Tj is survived by his mother Kari and her partner Johnny, his stepmother Debbie and Grandmother Pauline, his father Jon, his sister Samantha ‘Sami’ and her husband Jordan, his nieces Jessica, Alana and Ariana and his extended family, ‘Brother’ AJ, his girlfriend Gina ‘Gi Gi’. Also his aunt Denise, uncle Randy and aunt Ronnie as well as numerous cousins. Then there is his girl Bailey who he called ‘Boo Boos’. AND… many friends. Tj, With tears we mourn your passing. With joy we shall celebrate your life!
