Vernon James Davis, 70, Denver, passed away January 7, 2024 at Swedish Medical Center, Englewood. He had lived about a month at Hallmark Nursing Center, recovering from surgery.
Vernon James was born December 1, 1953 at Ansbach, Germany as a US citizen to Jack and Anneliese (Rohr) Davis, a military family. Vernon James spent his youth in Texas, California, Germany and Oregon. He then joined the Order of Man as a monk for several years, moving to Kansas and then to Denver in 1978. After leaving the Order, he worked for the Denver Post Newspaper starting 1983 for 30 years as a mailer. He retired in 2013 after a worksite disability.
On May 8, 1997, Vernon James married Lorraine (Miller) McLagan. They were married for 26 wonderful years having one son, John. Home is in south west Denver. Vernon James loved to read the bible becoming quite the expert on the passages and verses. He loved fishing but always did catch and release, loved reading books and listening to audio books. He had a great since of humor, especially at work and loved people. He was a very caring father and husband, the rock of the family.
Vernon Davis is survived by his wife, son and three siblings, Lorene Martin, Robert Davis and Judy Cokenour (Dennis).

Announcement: The family invites you for dinner and fellowship at the Olive Garden, 5380 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Littleton (303-978-0444) following the services and burial, about 2:00 pm.
Viewing and Visitation will be held at 10AM and Funeral Service at 11AM on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Drinkwine Family Mortuary; interment will follow at Littleton Cemetery.
