Virginia was born April 19, 1922 in Denver CO to James and Florence Pierce, the 2nd of four children. Her younger years were spent in activities at the Southside Church of the Nazarene (later becoming Columbine Hills Church of the Nazarene) where her family were early members and she made many lifelong friends. She also participated in the music and athletic programs at South High School in Denver CO. Following WWII she met and married Charles Cicero, and after a short time of living in Easton PA, moved back to CO where she would live the remainder of her life. Their union would give them two daughters, Barbara Holmes and Nicky Cedar. Having grown up during the Depression era, she learned to work hard; this gave her the impetus to take advantage of the opportunity to open her own business, Virginia’s Tax Service. She worked well past the age of retirement because she honestly enjoyed helping her customers, many of whom became wonderful friends. During her lifetime, she remained active in her church, did some traveling, enjoyed watching the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos, and loved the time spent with children and grandchildren – always keeping the refrigerator stocked with their favorite things and the freezer full of ice cream. When her physical body began to get tired, God blessed her with a gentle homegoing, taking her in her sleep on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.
