Virginia R. Lawrence

Virginia Ann Reames “Ginny” Lawrence

Born September 8, 1933 in Kansas City, Kansas and passed peacefully November 13, 2022 in Greenwood Village, Colorado, at 89 years of age.

Preceded in death by her husband, Richard Edwin Lawrence, her parents, Gardner Reames and Sharlotte Reames, and brother Gary Reames.

Survived by her children: Pamela Sue Yantorno of Sun City West, AZ, Richard Allen Lawrence of Centennial, CO, Beverly Lawrence Fenn of Littleton, CO, and four granddaughters. 

A 1955 graduate of Baker University and lifelong member of Tri Delta Sorority, Ginny was a homemaker and teacher. Ginny taught middle-school and high-school level English and Home Economics at several public schools around Colorado.  Having a love for her kids, Ginny led groups of teens at the national FHA/HERO conferences as she helped prepare them for their futures. 

She was an active member of Redlands Community Church in Grand Junction, CO, and Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church in Denver, CO. Ginny was also a longtime and very active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, helping women achieve their higher education goals. Over the years, Ginny served as P.E.O. Chapter President and in numerous other leadership roles.

Beyond homemaking, cooking, and sewing, Ginny had a passion for the beach and a love for the Grand Teton mountains in Wyoming.  Most of her vacations were spent with family and friends on Sanibel Island, Florida or at Jenny Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park. She also had a special love for Kauai, Hawaii, where she and Dick had several unforgettable adventures.
