William Ferguson Obituary

William "Bill" Edward Ferguson was born October 8, 1945. During his childhood he was raised primarily by his maternal grandparents.  He moved around the country frequently, but came to consider Washington State home.  He developed a warm relationship with his mother and stepfather there, along with 4 half siblings.  He joined the Army right out of high school and was eventually sent to Vietnam. There he served as a Combat Engineer.  He spent two tours back to back - 1965-1966.  He contracted a parasitic colitis there and became very ill which meant he was shipped back to the States.  He spent several months in the hospital and even after he recovered dealt with digestive issues.  Bill loved to hunt and fish, especially in Washington State.
Bill was married three times - the first two producing two daughters, Juanita "Nina" Stajcar, and Valerie Johnson.  When Bill was widowed he moved to Colorado.  There he met his current wife, Linda Olson.  They were married 18 years.  Together they volunteered at their church: Athmar Park Church/New Life Fellowship, at Vietnam Veteran Chapter 1071 events, and directed Homefront Heroes. One year Bill laid the wreath for Vietnam veterans at the Veterans Memorial Day Tribute.
When Bill married Linda he gained a son and daughter, Don Barrand and Anna Lee Baldwin.  He loved them as his own, and cherished the grandkids.  Bill loved to read, loved to watch Jeopardy with Anna, learned to like sushi and the ballet and Snoopy.  Bill was so proud of Don when he joined the Marines. When Azalea was born to Anna Lee and Nate Baldwin the choice was clear - Azalea wanted Papa Bill. Bill was very protective of Anna Lee.
In lieu of flowers Bill's family requests donations to the non-profit Homefront Heroes, designated to support veterans needing dental care.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 7, 2019 - 12:00 P.M. at Athmar Park Church with burial at 2:00 P.M. at Ft. Logan National Cemetery (staging area "A").
