Obituary
William McClelland Leckie, Jr. passed away peacefully on July 30, 2023 in the presence of his loving wife of 41 years, Patricia Leckie. Bill was born on March 18, 1934 in Evansville, Indiana. His mother was killed in an automobile accident when he was 8 years old. His father remarried, but Bill Sr. died while Bill Jr. was in college. Bill attended Olivet College in Michigan where he lettered in basketball and golf, and graduated in 1956. Bill married Roberta E. (Yocum) Leckie in 1955. They were married for 26 years and had three children: R. Mark Leckie (Massachusetts), David W. Leckie (Arizona), and Lynda M. Vallejo (Colorado). He began his adult career with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Michigan. He became an automotive sales manager for Montgomery Ward, which took the young family to multiple locations across Michigan and Ft. Wayne IN before moving to the corporate headquarters of Montgomery Wards in Chicago in 1971. Bill later worked for Western Auto and AutoZone. He was an avid golfer for much of his adult life. Bill married Patricia (Gulczynski) Leckie in 1982. He and Patricia lived in Memphis TN and Kansas City KS, before retiring in Pueblo West CO in 2005. Bill and Patricia enjoyed going to Chicago Cubs and Bears games with their dear friends Jack and Marisue Jeschke. During the COVID Pandemic, Bill and Patricia were relocated to Cherrelyn Healthcare Center in the Denver CO area in December 2020. Bill was predecessed by his parents William McClelland Leckie, Sr. and Margaret (Boylan) Leckie, step-mother Betty Leckie, his first wife Roberta Leckie, and grandsons Michael J. Leckie and William S. Leckie. He is survived by his three children and their spouses, 7 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, and by his wife Patricia and her three children (Deborah Vicicondi, Jerry Wilkerson, and Jim Wilkerson) and 2 grandchildren.
