Kathy and Lauren,
I am sad about Blaine’s passing away and sorry for your loss. We worked hard building our careers at Martin Marietta back in the 80s and played harder together outside of work fishing, landscaping, and remodeling our homes. I am glad that our paths crossed in this life and to have been one of his friends. He will always be remembered by me for his great character, honesty, and passion.

Thank you Todd for your kind words and it was so great to see and talk with you and thanks for your support. It was a tough year for the three of us. WOW, time almost seemed to stand still for a moment. Thanks for being your funny self and bringing me that glass. Could you please forward me your email. Hugs, Kathy

Dear Kathy, It has been over 20 years since we last connected (since Todd's and my divorce), and have often wondered what you two were doing these days. I am so sorry to hear the news about Blaine. I have such fond memories of the 4 of us landscaping each other's yards, camping, and partying. I remember Blaine (and you!) as being someone who would do anything for anybody. I pray you can hold dear your good times with Blaine and smile. I will keep you in my heart, Kathy. I just learned about Blaine this morning (the morning of his funeral), and can not get to the funeral; but would love to connect with you in person. Hugs, Lisa Henkel (was Beldon)

I'm so sorry to hear about Blaine.
Blaine and I started our careers together at Lockheed in the summer of 1978. Known then as "The Beetle Crew", we were tasked with venturing into the remote foothills of the property to cut down beetle-infected pine trees. Although it was extremely intensive physical labor, we felt blessed at being able to spend our days in the outdoors we both loved and get paid to do it! We did this for 2 summers and were even roommates that last summer. After college graduation we both then started our careers.
I tell this story because it will always be the best job I ever had and Blaine played a large part in that. Blaine and I went on with our separate lives so I never got the chance to meet his family. I will always have fond memories of our time together. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Dearest Kathy, I had the joy of meeting Blaine in 2003 at the Waterton plant during a very intense and drawn-out proposal for a new Targets program. This was the start of what became a close friendship and affection that I had for Blaine. He always provided comic relief when ever around, yet he had a very serious, intense passion for his job, no matter what he was assigned throughout his time on that program. While he was always a "trickster," he taught me a lot of things about our work that I would not have otherwise known. But it was the time away from the office, usually on travel, that I got to know the sincere, caring, and joyful side of Blaine that made me love him like a brother. Or maybe it was because he and I shared the same raunchy sense of humor that got us through some stressful times on the program. Blaine was such a joy to know, and it hurt badly to hear of the struggles with health in the end that God placed before him, that you too had to endure. I'm comforted to know that his soul now has the chance for an entirely new role, that will also be filled with joy, humor, and caring. May God bless and comfort you and Lauren during this difficult time. With my love and hugs,
Jim
