Welcome to the memorial page for

Janice Lehman

October 1, 1928 ~ September 12, 2016 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Janice Lehman passed away on September 12, 2016. She was born on October 1, 1928 in Broken Bow, Nebraska, the youngest of nine children of John and Loretta Rourke. She moved to Denver after she graduated from high school in 1946 and joined her sister working as a telephone operator. She married Bill Lehman on November 6, 1948, and they raised their 7 children in Littleton. Janice worked for the Littleton Independent newspaper for several years, was an avid pinochle player, an ardent sports fan, a devout Catholic, and a loving wife, mother, grandma, and friend. Throughout her life, Janice’s greatest joy was in her family. She was very close to her brothers and sisters and looked forward to Rourke family reunions in Broken Bow. She nurtured those same values within her own family, and along with her husband, Bill, built a legacy of love that is readily shared at countless large family gatherings and will always endure in the hearts of her children and grandchildren.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, John and Loretta Rourke, her brothers John and Eugene Rourke, and her sisters Celestine Chapin, Bernice Welch, Mary Alyce Tierney, Cecilia Brownell, and Kathyleen Roberts.

She will be greatly missed by her husband of nearly 68 years, Bill, her 7 children, Don (Gayla) Lehman of Arvada, Christine (John) Mayerle of Englewood, Joanne (Warren) Ida of Westminster, Doug (Lisa) Lehman of Eaton, Dave (Suzanne Cabral) Lehman of Thornton, Dan (Amy) Lehman of Longmont, and Dale Lehman of Loveland, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her sister, Veronica Neiswanger of Denver.

A viewing (5:00-7:00 p.m.) and rosary (7:00 p.m.) will be held on Wednesday, September 21 at Drinkwine Family Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held at Saint Mary's in Littleton at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 22 with a reception to follow. Interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Parkinson Association of the Rockies, 303‑830‑1839 or www.ParkinsonRockies.org.
