Steve was a wonderful friend, and an adventurer. He loved the great outdoors. Rick and I have many wonderful memories of our “out west” adventures with Sharon and Steve, beginning in 1996. We remember driving to the top of Mount Evans, the “highest paved road in North America,” laughing nervously as Steve laughed while he took the hairpin turns of the road (no guard rails) at break neck speed, to take us to the top.

We also laughed nervously with Steve and Sharon on our Moab Hummer jeep tour in Utah, as our Hummer climbed straight up the rock face, and we saw nothing but the sky. Our hike of the Delicate Arch/Wolfe Ranch trailhead in Arches National Park was quite an adventure, too, especially at the end, as we climbed slickrock to try and reach the top.

Steve led us through all of these adventures, and was always ready with hiking/survival tips, encouragement, and a ready smile. We all had so much fun together. He and Sharon were a wonderful team, and a pleasure to vacation with.

We will always remember his zest for life, and his love of Colorado and the outdoors, and all it had to offer. We will miss you always, Steve.

Steve was my brother-in-law for 28 years. He was a good husband, father and uncle. The one thing about Steve is that he has given us something to miss. I love you Steve and I will always remember what your (-) dash meant in your life. Thanks for being so wonderful to my sister. No one will miss you more than Sharon Gaare will. Much respect and love my friend.
Love for eternity, Sally
