Richard Marvin Thomas

July 18, 1945 ~ February 2, 2016 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Richard Marvin Thomas passed away at his home in New Castle, Colorado, on Tuesday, February 2 at the age of 70.  Richard was born July 18, 1945, in Moberly, Missouri to Marvin George Thomas and Doris Swackhammer Thomas. He later lived in Des Moines, Iowa, and Littleton, Colorado. He graduated from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado, with a BA in Speech, Communications and Theater Arts in 1967 and earned a Masters in Secondary Education English in 1972.  He taught high school courses in Alamosa.

Richard served in the United States Air Force for several years. During the Viet Nam war he taught English to South Vietnamese forces and in later years was an award winning Air Force photographer.

After his military service Richard had an electronics business and operated a non tactical radio service for government and commercial companies.  Before his retirement he was a librarian at Colorado Mountain College.

Richard is survived by his sisters Alice Thomas (David) Wright and Nancy Thomas (Richard) Heffner, his brother Ronald L. Thomas, nieces and nephews, and his long time friends and companions Bridget, Austin, and Madison Gonsalvas.

There will be a private service and interment in Littleton, Colorado.  Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
