Virginia (Hart) Fraser

Virginia H. Fraser, longtime activist for nursing home residents’ rights, passed away November 18, surrounded by her family. “Ginny” Fraser was born in Cleveland, Ohio, September 30, 1928. She attended Hiram College, where she met her husband, Charles, to whom she was married for 60 years, and received an M.A. from the University of Denver. The Frasers moved to Colorado in 1957, and became avid outdoorspeople. Virginia was an activist in human rights causes, and deeply involved in the Littleton community. From 1979 to 2000, she was Colorado’s long-term care ombudsman, expanding the rights of nursing home residents. She received numerous honors, including the Littleton Independent’s Most Valuable Citizen, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award, and the Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame. Virginia is survived by her husband “Chuck,” as well as four beloved daughters, Cynthia Taylor, Janice Fraser, Amy Mease, Laura Fraser, and four grandchildren. Memorial services: Nov.29th, 2:00 p.m., First Plymouth Congregational Church, 3501 S. Colorado Blvd., Englewood, CO. Donations may be made to the Parkinson Association of the Rockies, 1325 S.
